New Year Plans
A new year is approaching. Artists will be making new plans, new paintings, new goals. What will your aspirations be for 2016? It is something to think about and also a healthy thing to do.
If you are like me, you cannot wait to get to back to your studio after all the holiday festivities have died down. If I'm not painting, I'm thinking of art stuff, like subject themes, compositions, and all kinds of things related. Throughout the year, I'm thinking about what my next steps will be to boost my career. Well, the new year, traditionally, is the start to all the things you've had stored in the brain. Now, is the time to dust them off and put them into action. Yes, now!!!
There are a ton of things to do. There is a list a mile long that artist do all year from creating art to marketing. The list is never ending as we try to balance everything needed to turn expectations into successes. Maybe, there are a few new things or some things you already own (like blogging, social media, etc.) that could be made more consistent.
Sometimes, I have too much on the table and try to spread it out too thin. Taking a few of those things and reinforcing them may do more good than having a lot but never doing much with them.
This year, I want to draw more besides from painting. I'd like to produce some paintings for competitions that are more complex and out of my comfort zone. And then, there's marketing. I think limiting my time on the computer (clocking it) could make more use of my time and help not to get carried away.
So, a fresh new year is almost here. I hope we all follow through with our plans and make good things happen.
Happy New Year!
